ecoR65 Installation Instructions

(same instructions apply for ecoR40 & ecoR90 systems)

Plug in one ecoR65 unit into any independent 110/120v or 220v wall socket/power point close to the main distribution Box/Circuit Breaker. Each ecoR65 single phase unit is suitable for properties of up to 2800 square feet.

Multiple units may be used for larger spaces or 3 phase applications if desired. Make sure the device is plugged into a wall socket/power point, not an extension lead or multiple socket power strip/adapter. Plug of the power cord should be firmly attached to socket, poor or loose contact must be avoided. Once the unit has been properly connected, the small indicator light should be brightly lit, indicating that the device is functioning correctly. If indicator light does not lite or seems dim you may have a faulty outlet, no ground, or loose connection. If so, try another socket.

If problem persists, contact customer service or your local distributor for assistance or a replacement unit if needed.

Unit Achieves Optimal Results When Plugged Into A 220V Socket Or Hard Wired

Unit Operates At 78% Efficiency When Plugged Into a 110/120V Socket

Both Applications Offer Significant Savings OF 10% - 30%

Warning: Do not touch the metal prongs on the plug when unplugging the device. Unit remains charged for approximately 3 seconds and may give you an electrical shock.

Warning: ecoSystem must be installed a minimum of 10-15 feet away from all variable frequency drives equipment.

Warning: Do not submerse under water.

Other ecoR65 Installation Options:

 (A)  Residential Single Phase Hard wire option

Licensed Electrician Required

WarningHave your ecoSystem Installed by a LICENSED Electrician. Installing electrical equipment may result in shock, serious injury, or even death.

1) Locate your circuit breaker panel and an available breaker slot. Switch the main breaker to the off position. The breaker is to remain off until the entire installation process is complete.

In the event that no breaker slot is available, a sub panel may be installed.

2) Connect the black and white lead wires to a dedicated 2 pole 20 amp 220 volt breaker (one on each side). Attach the green wire to the ground bar in the panel. Insert the breaker into the available slot in the panel.

You must use a dedicated breaker. Piggy backing is against national building codes.

3) Switch the main breaker back to the on position and turn the dedicated breaker on.

If the unit has been properly installed the indicator light on the ecoR65 will be on.

Mount the ecoR65 to the wall or dedicated area using the screw slots on the enclosure.

In the event the indicator light did not lite, turn the main breaker off and make sure the

black and white wires are securely fastened as well as the green ground wire. Restore

the power and make certain that the indicator light is on. If the light is still not working,

uninstall the unit and contact your local distributor or sales representative for a replacement.

(B)  3 Phase Application For Small to Medium Commercial Properties

Plug in one ecoR65 system to each phase, for all three phases, total 3 units are needed. Please refer the installation to a qualified electrician to determine the power points of different phases. Upon special request, units may be wired for 3 phase hard wire installation (Licensed Electrician Required). Contact your local distributor or sales rep for 3 phase wiring option and pricing.

FAQ's

How do ecoSystems work?

ecoSystems reduce the amount of power drawn from the utility by storing (in its capacitors) otherwise lost electricity (watts) caused by the inductive motors & transformers in your home. (Some examples of inductive loads systems are Air Conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, pool pumps, vacuum cleaners, furnace blowers, fans, fluorescent lighting, etc...) The technology applied by ecoSystems supplies that stored electricity back to your inductive loads, thus causing you to decrease your demand from the utility. If you decrease your demand from the utility, your meter slows down, and you use less electricity. The thought is, you've already paid for that electricity, why pay for it and waste it when you can pay for it, store it, and use it efficiently. This whole process is called power factor optimization.

 http://www1.eere.energy.gov/industry/bestpractices/pdfs/mc60405.pdf

What is Power Factor?

Power factor is the percentage of electricity that's delivered to your house and used effectively, compared to what is wasted. For example, a 1.0 power factor means that all the electricity that's being delivered to your home is being used effectively for its purpose. However, most homes in America today have a .77 power factor or less. This means that 77% of the electricity that is coming through your meter at your home or business is being used effectively, the other 23% is being wasted by your inductive load. With a low power factor, the utility has to deliver more electricity to do the same work. However, the ecoSystems increase that power factor in most cases to .97 or .98, thus increasing the effective use of your electricity and lowering your usage.

Will the ecoSystems affect or damage any of my appliances and their normal use?

No, the ecoSystems will not damage any appliances. On the contrary, it will help the appliance motors to run more efficiently and up to 10% cooler. Our products will actually prolong the life of appliances. It also offers surge and spike suppression. The appliances will continue receiving their optimal proper voltage. Unlike other inexpensive devices which reduce voltage and could damage equipment. The ecoSystems do not reduce line voltage or lower the performance of appliances. Our systems also offer harmonic filtration, lowering interferences, noise and heat caused by nonlinear loads. Nonlinear loads are used by many of todays electronics such as computers, fax and copy machines. Unlike older traditional equipment, nonlinear loads demand the use of electrical current in pulses which creates damaging noise, interference and heat. This interference, potentially could cause sensitive electrical equipment to overheat or even fail. Our systems are designed to condition and thus optimize the use of electrical current. (eco = electrical current optimizer)

Can ecoSystems be used with newer variable frequency drive equipment?

Yes, and you will still yield additional savings. However, the ecoSystem must be installed a minimum of 10-15 feet away from all variable frequency drive equipment. Some examples of variable frequency drive equipment are newer energy efficient HVAC air conditioners and newer energy efficient elevators with variable frequency motors.

Do ecoSystems lower Electro-Magnetic Field Radiation (EMF)?

Yes, ecoSystems will lower the High Frequency Pollution on the electrical lines of your home making it a safer place for your family. Learn more about EMF at:  http://www.globalemfdetector.com/

How much can I expect to save per month by the use of an ecoSystem?

That depends on many factors. The size of your home, the amount of inductive motor load, and the amount you are paying per kilowatt-hour for electricity etc. However, generally speaking users of the product have seen up to 30% in reduced consumption, but the average savings is somewhere in the 15% to 20% range.

How long will it take for an ecoSystem to pay for itself?

Generally about 6-12 months, but again, the same factors above apply, some will see sooner (ROI of 6 months), some will see later (ROI of 12 months).

Is the ecoR40/65/90 easy to install?
Just simply plug the eco into any power outlet and your done. See the ecoR40/65/90 installation instructions for more options & details.

How easy is it to install an ecoCI200/400/600 system?

The commercial/industrial ecoSystems require a hard wire installation and the use of a licensed electrition. See installation instruction for details.

How long will an ecoSystem last?
They have an expected lifespan of up to 10+ years (80,000 operating hours).

Why haven’t I heard of this product until now?
That’s easy, two words “cost effectiveness”. Up until recently, electric rates throughout America were cheap, costing us 2, 3 or 4 cents per kilowatt-hour. Now, electric rates are 8, 10, 12, 14, and 19 and in some cases New York City is 22 cents per KWH, and Hawaii is 33.5 cents per KWH. At the cheaper rates the ecoSystems didn’t make sense, but at the current rates, it makes all the sense in the world.

What About The ecoSystems Surge Protection?
The ecoSystems  also protects the entire home against power surges. No longer a need for so many surge protectors in the home or business. The ecos provides a broad range of protection for hardwired appliances and most home electronics such as televisions, satellite equipment, entertainment systems, etc. The eco protects from power line surges as well as spikes caused by internal wiring problems, loose connections and fluctuating demand from large motors such as appliances, vacuum cleaners, heating and cooling equipment, etc.

Do ecoSystems work with generators?

Yes! Single phase ecoSystems (ecoR40/65/90) will clean up the AC  sine wave and also enable more equipment to run. (The ecoSystem will not turn a 4000 Watt generator into a 5000 Watt generator).

IT works like this:

1) The ecoSystem will supply extra current and starting capacity to a generator. This means you can start a  larger motor. A motor draws about 2.5 times its rated current at start up.

 2) The ecoSystem will also reduce the line noise, so sensitive electric equipment will operate properly.

 3) However, savings would be difficult to determine. Most generators are not too efficient and generally use a lot  of fuel to even produce 1 kWh. Although some larger diesel and gas turbines are more efficient. We are unable  to prove much, if any savings, but a good tune-up could save you some fuel.

Do ecoSystems come with any type of warranty?

Yes! ecoSystems come with a 5 year limited warranty against factory defects and overall system's operation.

Is there a “Money Back Guarantee”?
Yes! All ecoSystems come with a 90-day money back guarantee. If in 90 days, you don’t see reduction in usage on your electric bill, contact us and let us know, and we’ll give you details on how to return the unit for a full refund of the purchase price. Shipping cost will not be refunded. See the ecoSystems 90 day money back guarantee page for details.
